Philip D. Mr. Freedman has successfully prosecuted U.S. and international patent applications for General Electric Company, Shell Oil Company, Rohm and Haas Company, AMP, Inc., Xerox Corporation, Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Nissan Chemical Co., Nissei ASB Machine Co., Ltd., NGK Spark Plug Co., Brother Industries, Nikon, Fuji Xerox, Mochida Pharmaceutical Co., Seiko Epson Corporation, Thomas De La Rue Limited, Rolls-Royce, Antirouille (Metz, FR), Societe Financiere Pour L'electroni, L'Oreal, Mediolanum Farmaceutici, TEVA Pharmaceutical Industries and Akzo companies.

Education and Membership

Mr. Freedman received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Bachelor of Arts degree in Arts and Science from Lehigh University. Mr. Freedman earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and Pennsylvania and to the United States Third and Fourth Circuit Courts of Appeals, the Federal Circuit Court, the United States Eastern District Court of Virginia, the United States Eastern and Middle District Courts of Pennsylvania and he is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and serves on the Association's Biotechnology and Chemical Practice Committees. He is a member of the American Chemical Society.

Other Relevant Experience

Mr. Freedman began his career at the United States Patent Office as an Examiner. Thereafter, he worked in industry from 1965 to 1972. From 1972 to 1992, he was engaged in the general practice of law including civil and criminal law in the Courts of Pennsylvania. He was solely responsible for major cases in trial and appeal to the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the Pennsylvania Commonwealth, Superior and Supreme Courts. His reported cases include Schell v. AMF, Inc., 567 F.2d 1259 (3rd Cir. 1977); Sheibley v. ARA Foods, 86 Pa.Cmwlth. 28, 483 A.2d 593 (1984); and Commonwealth v. Allen, 475 Pa. 165, 379 A.2d 1335 (1977). Mr. Freedman has served as a Court Hearing Officer for the Court of Common Pleas of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He has lectured in Law at the Pennsylvania State University.
